Wednesday at 9.30 am in Room 1.

Glitter Text Generator

Wow, this morning our chrysalis started to crack open and we could see the wings inside.  We had just started our phonics when Mrs Tarawhiti noticed something was happening.

We all sneaked over and were very quiet as we watched the butterfly wriggle out of the chrysalis.

Watch this short video of the later stages of the butterfly coming out.

Now we can answer our big question.

Our Discovery Table

We have lots of very hungry monarch caterpillars in Room 1. They are fussy eaters and only like swan plants or milkwood. They will eat pumpkin if nothing else is available.

PLEASE, if anyone has some swan plants to donate for our hungry caterpillars to munch through that would be fantastic.

We have been asking questions to find out more about the caterpillars.

Our big question is:

How does the butterfly come out of the chrysalis?

February 2014

It is great to be back and seeing all the five year old children starting school for the first time and it is a privilege to be their first teacher.   They are so enthusiastic to learn and play.
The class newsletter will go home on Friday with a copy of                                                       "Being a Room 1 STAR!"
Four photos later and still haven't managed to get everyone looking at the camera.  Lucky we will have professional class photos later this term!

A class walk around the school grounds had us hugging and feeling the tree trunk of the Bell Tree in the senior playground.

Look out for regular updates of what we are doing in Room 1 this year.
